Airtel always enjoys making PAYU / PayG a default plan when you register a new SIM. Even if you have active data on the new SIM, sometimes they will still deduct from your airtime when browsing the internet.
Many of us have experienced this sad situation, whereby you have active data on your Airtel SIM and they keep deducting from your airtime anytime you surf the internet.
Unlike the other networks, they will tell you and even give you a code to dial if you wish to browse as PAYU anytime you have exhausted your data bundle. Before the end of this article, you will be able to find out how you can deactivate the Airtel PayU Plan.
How to Deactivate Airtel PAYU / PAYG Plan
It’s quite simple to stop Airtel from deducting from your airtime when browsing. I’ll be dropping two methods on how I achieved that. Kindly read along.
This method only works if you don’t have active data on your SIM and you wish to stop Airtel PAYU. What you simply have to do is to subscribe to any of the Airtel data plans. By so doing, you will be opted out automatically from Airtel PAYU. Just dial *141# and choose any data bundle of your choice.
You’ll be asked what should happen when your bundle finishes, just reply to the prompt with 2, which is Stop My Data.
This method actually works for everyone. If you have any active data on your line and Airtel keeps deducting from your airtime balance, that means you are on the Airtel PAYU plan. You don’t need to worry because this method will work for you.
What you have to do is to dial *400*1#. You’ll get a response saying “You have been unsubscribed from Airtel FREE SURF offer” just like in the image below.
That’s all friends. You have now successfully opted out of the Airtel PAYU plan. You can dial *400# if you wish to go back to Airtel PAYU and continue browsing from your airtime balance.
